On February 26, 2022, Supervisor Sarah Christian answered a call for help and quickly determined that the patient was not awake and not breathing. Sarah was able to calmly instruct the caller to move the patient to the floor and for the next 18 minutes, provided CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) instructions, encouraging the caller to continue compressions until responders arrived.
Fortunately, Sarah’s instructions and the callers’ efforts succeeded. EMS (Emergency Medical Services) arrived and transported the patient, who was later released from the hospital.
For her compassion, professionalism, and exceptional implementation of EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) protocols, Sarah is awarded Johnson County Central Dispatch Lifesaving Award.
